Can you answer "yes" to all of the following four questions?

• Did you own a business or have self employment income?

• Did you pay any vendors for business expenses with cash, check, or a money transfer service like Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle?

• Was any one of these vendors paid $600 or more?

• Were these payments for services and/or rent?

If you answered yes to all four questions, you've met the filing requirement for 1099s. There are additional possible exceptions, and you will need a completed Form W-9 from each vendor to determine if any of them qualify for an exemption.
